BACK 2 THE FUTURE
Friday, April 20th, 2007On Saturday June 9 Super Zab Judah and Miguel Cotto will clash against one another to see who indeed is the fittest. This war will showcase a battle between speed and power, the speed of course belonging to Judah and the power belonging to Cotto. Even though Judah doesn’t quite hit with feathers in his hands he still doesn’t have that crippling power that Cotto possesses. As for the speed, Judah is not only fast with his hands but his footwork is dazzling very ‘’sweat pea’’ like. So who will win? Well allow me to step foot into my time traveling ride, before I do so, I must first charge my 1.21 jigawatts to power the flux capacitor then set the time to the date: Saturday June 9 2007 location: Madison Square Garden.
In a blink of an eye, I kick the dog out the ride, loosen up the collar, step inside the room, A2ZBOXING has arrived. As I take my seat, I begin to look around. To my left is Floyd Mayweather Jr. still looking sharp despite the beating he took from Oscar about a month ago. I nod to him as if I know him and he nods back. To my right I see Felix Trinidad lounging with Fat Joe. I try to not seem star struck but I can’t help it, fuck it I yell out ‘’Tito, what up baby’’ and before he can answer back the bell rings. Alright now no more games eyes on the ring. In the early rounds the bout is more of a footrace than a fight, with Judah performing a circular retreat and Cotto pursuing trying to trap Judah in a corner.
Within the first four rounds or so, Judah hasn’t made a stand, in the sixth round however Judah relaxes and slows down Cotto’s pursuit with a hard clean punch. In the seventh round both men come out firing away, Cotto shoots a devastating right hook that changes the taste in Judah’s mouth. Judah then retreats and goes back to using the entire ring as his dance floor. In the eighth round Judah sticks Cotto with three straight jabs that seemed to frustrate Cotto, Cotto then collects himself and begins to move to his left as Judah moves to his right, it seems that rather than following Judah, Cotto is now angling towards Judah and begins to change direction quickly as Judah is forced to his left.
In the ninth round Cotto’s body shots begin to take their toll, Judah in frustration tries to fight his way out of trouble. In the tenth round with Judah no longer able to retreat, Cotto begins to fire upstairs and clocks Judah with a hard right cross followed by an even harder left hook. Down goes Judah! Down goes Judah! Judah struggles to beat the count he is clearly still dazed, it is then that the referee stops the fight at 1:34 of the tenth round. What a fight it was, following the post fight interview, I decide to call it a night and head towards the exit. A2ZBOXING has left the building.
