PACQUIAO VS. DIAZ PREDICTION

Ever since it was first announced that the Pacman was making a jump to 135 pounds, I thought to myself two things, #1. Yes, let the good times roll, let’s get Juan Diaz in there with him. #2. Will Pacman lose the fire he had at 130? In other words can Pacman still be the typhoon he was at 130 when he went right through Eric Morales? Well this Saturday night we will see Pacman in the ring for the first time at his new weight, he will not be facing the Diaz I wanted him to face, but hey we can’t have everything we wish for right? In any case I feel that David Diaz will provide Pacman with a nice little scrap.

David Diaz in many ways is like the Baby Bull in the sense that he keeps coming forward throwing heavy body shots, the difference is that the Baby Bull is a little more relentless in his approach. Come fight night Diaz must be able to use his strength to bully The Pacman backwards, Diaz must realize that he is not fast enough to counter Pacmans wild shots so Diaz must make Pacman work for that extra weight as much as possible.

I feel that Diaz will fight the fight of his life, but still even in saying that it is hard for me to see Diaz winning this one. I feel that Pacman will be able to bring his power up with him to 135 just like Cotto has done from 140 to 147. In the end Pacman is far too firece and far too quick to lay down for Diaz, I am picking Pacman to win this one by TKO. I see the fight being stopped on cuts inside 10 rounds.

It has already been rumored that if Pacman is to defeat Diaz and if Hatton is to beat Malignaggi, that a Pacquiao/Hatton war will take place at 140 in the beginning of 09. Money wise a Pacquiao/ Hatton clash will be huge!! It will be very entertaining, it can be the kind of fight that boxing needs right now. As I mentioned before, I feel that Pacman will have no trouble bringing the power up to 135, however at 140 that is a whole different story. I feel that at 140 Pacman would have bitten off more than he would be able to chew. I always say that speed and skills kills, but in this case the weight will dictate. For Pacquiao/Hatton to happen next year, Hatton must beat Malignaggi later this year, and Pacman must beat Diaz, Phase one begins this Saturday night.
