So Albert what’s up with Hopkins fighting Pavlik? You didn’t even have Hopkins on your list of opponents for Pavlik to face, you fell off on that one homie. Santos, El Mirage
Santos, your guess is as good as mine. From what I heard the Allan Green fight was almost done but then all of a sudden before the ink could dry someone at HBO had a change of heart and then in a New York minute the fight was off the table. As far as Hopkins not being on my list of opponents for Pavlik, well the reason why, is because Hopkins came way out of left field. I also feel that Pavlik’s people are looking at Hopkins as a legend that they can put on Pavliks resume, The Pavlik team feel that they will be the first to knock out the living legend. So we will have Pavlik one of the most exciting fighters against a fighter who is so defensively skilled that his art is often viewed as boring. One question to ask is, if Arum did not want to risk putting up Pavlik against Winky because of Winky’s defense first style, Then what makes them think that a fight with Hopkins will be any different? If Hopkins made Calzaghe fight in the rythym of the Executioners, If Calzaghe who is more experienced than Pavlik couldn’t get his shots off then what makes them think that Hopkins won’t do the same to Pavlik?
Hey guys, with Green no longer fighting Pavlik, who would you try to put Green in with now? Armand, Phoenix
I for one would try to get Dibella on the phone and gun for the next big name, and that would be Jermain Taylor.
What’s up with Steve Forbes? when is he going to scrap again? James
Good question James, last I heard 2 pounds was going to lock horns with Andre Berto. Honestly I am not sure if it’s just talk or if in fact it’s real talk. The last time I spoke with Forbes he wanted the fights that will give him some more recognition along with some bread. A fight with the young lion that is Berto will provide both, however Mr. Luis Collazo also wants the same slice of bread that Forbes wants. I will try to get Forbes on the phone tonight to confirm or to unconfirm.
Albert who are you picking, Cotto or Margarito? I am going to pick Margarito to knock out Cotto in the 3rd round! Dominic, Mehico en la casa.
Margarito knocking out Cotto would not be out of the question, however Magarito knocking out Cotto in the 3rd round is such a gutsy call. It is hard for me to pick against Cotto because since his move to welterweight, Cotto has improved so much fight after fight, as good as he looked against Judah, Cotto looked his best against Mosley. In the Mosley fight his defense improved, his jab was better, and his timing was on point. Margarito on the other hand is going to show up with the kind of fire and determination that will be in Cotto’s face from beginning to end. Cotto must use the same jab that he used against Mosley to stop the Tornado from coming in. Margarito, must find angles around the jab and transform into the tornado that destroys everything in it’s path. If I had to pick right now, it would be Margarito, but ask me again on Saturday and it may be Cotto. This fight is too close to call.
Hey guys who do you have judah or Clottey? Steve
Steve, in the first 4 rounds it will be all Judah but after that the tide will change into Clottey’s favor. The kind of fighter that will give Clottey problems will be the kind of fighter that is going to attack, attack, and attack. Judah who is known to take rounds off does not fit the profile. You can never count Judah out, Judah is a live dog against anyone he faces, However I am picking Clottey in this one. This fight may very well pan out like the first encounter between Mosley/Wright . Clottey like Winky has a high guard and a very stiff hard jab, the only difference was that Winky is a taller fighter that knew how to use his height against the smaller Mosley. Clottey will not have to use his height much as he and Judah are similar in height, something tells me he won’t have to.
