Hey there Jack, how is it going?
Everything has been going good, I’ve been in the gym staying busy.
So Jack I gotta tell you that I saw you on youtube hitting the heavy bag like you were 20 years old again, what’s up with that?
[laughing] you know Albert, that right there is that MaxGXL. I gotta tell you that it is the real deal. You see glutathione is protein that we produce in our cells as we get older we tend to lose some of the glutathione through the years. That protein in our cells that we do lose weakens us and as a result fatigue kicks in. No doubt, I really do gotta get on your team, on another note, what’s up with you and Shane splitting up? I mean this aint no Floyd Jr. and Floyd Sr. thing here right?
No, No, No not at all Shane and I are cool real cool things are fine, Shane is just going in a different direction for now.. in other relationships money is what breaks people up even in family, but not with us, never that.. family is something that should never be broken up due to money, money is great to have we all need money to survive but in the end money comes and goes but the love between you and your family will always be there, I love my son, we are both cool.
That’s love right there, much respect to the both of you for seeing the bigger picture, so without you in Shane’s corner how do you see a Mosley/Margarito clash playing out?
Well Shane can beat Margarito by going to his body, Shane needs to really bang him on the inside and box a little bit. I’m telling you Shane has real good power.. I’m not 100% sure if it’s finalized.. but in any case Shane will be just fine. Shane will beat Margarito.
So who will win between De La Hoya and Pac-Man?
I think Oscar will beat Pacquiao. Simply because Oscar is bigger and mainly due to Oscar being the smarter fighter. I really don’t see Pacquiao being able to hurt Oscar. Oscar has a heck of a chin and he is still dangerous, when Oscar fought Mayweather the speed of Mayweather didn’t bother Oscar, Oscar blocked alot of those shots with his gloves. I don’t think Oscar will knock out Pacquiao, but then again it’s not out of the question.
Since you brought up Mayweather, how would a Mayweather/Mosley fight have played out? I always wanted to see that one.
Well Shane has always wanted to fight Floyd but Floyd has never wanted to fight Shane. Even before the Mayweather/Hatton bout took place Floyd’s people told me straight out that Floyd will never fight Shane. Floyd knows that in fighting Shane he would be dealing with someone with power, a great chin, and someone that gets stronger as the fight goes on. If they had fought, Shane would have knocked out Floyd cause when Floyd gets hit clean he gets hurt, he showed the suspect chin when Corley got him same with Zab and Hatton.
You’re right, when Chop Chop hit him clean, Floyd was buzzed when Zab hit him clean Floyd’s glove touched the canvas and when Hatton hit him clean he stumbled back I think like in round 3 or 4…
Right, so that’s why I feel that Shane would have knocked him out, Shane feels the same that’s why Shane has always wanted to fight Floyd. All the great fighters are always out to face anyone.
That’s why Shane, Oscar, and Trinidad are my favorite fighters of my era.
Exactly, those three right there never ducked anyone they all fought everybody that is what it’s about right there.
So who were Shane’s favorite fighters growing up?
Shane has always loved boxing, his favorite boxers were Sugar Ray Robinson, Ali, Duran, Frazier, Hearns. Shane had alot of boxers that he liked and looked up to.
I recently saw a tape of Shane sparring against the Great Julio Cesar Chavez, take us back to the day you got the call that the great Chavez wanted to spar against your son.
I remember Shane being real excited he couldn’t wait. Shane was just 17 or 18 years old but even at that young age he always wanted to spar against the best. Shane showed Chavez Meldrick Taylor type speed, both Shane and Oscar same with Pepe.. Oscar was also there that day. Oscar went down on a body shot but Oscar got right back up. Shane also sparred many rounds with Azumah Nelson, Shane gave Azumah all he could handle, afterward Azumah told Shane that Shane would be world champion one day.
So you have known Oscar for quite a while?
Oh yeah, we have known Oscar since he was like ten years old, Shane and Oscar were the best little fighters, they fought then and Shane beat Oscar, But Shane and I both knew that Oscar was also going to be a future world Champion. They go way back, that is why they respect each other so much.
