The popular fighters have always fought at least 2-4 times a year because there is a high demand from the public to see them fight. The super stars such as De La Hoya, Mayweather, Cotto, and Margarito will be lucky to fight twice a year, the reason for that is because whenever they do fight the super stars participate in mega events that take a little longer to put together, the build up for the mega fight is watered slowly then we sit back and watch it bloom. The other boxing stars alot of times are left in the middle trying to fit in somewhere, these fighters are often shelved for a long period of time. In 2009 these are the fighters that must put their foot down and demand to be seen, These are the top 10 fighters that we must see alot more of in 2009.

Edwin Valero- This knockout artist has got to make a splash in 2009. Rumor has it that his boxing license was ok’d for Valero to fight in Texas, I hope this rumor is true. Let’s hope that 2009 is the year we all get to see this knockout king in action.

Robert Guerrero- The last time we saw the Ghost from Gilroy he was battering Jason Litzau from ring post to ring post in a thrilling match. With only one fight in the last year, the future for 2009 looks a lot brighter now that the Ghost is with Golden Boy Promotions.

Jorge Linares- 3 reasons why we need to see more of Linares. #1 he has the type of power that a young De La Hoya used to have. #2 he is very exciting just like a young De La Hoya used to be. #3 he is like a shark when he smells blood, if he sniffs a little blood,it’s over. Need I say more?

Urbano Antillon- Each time I see Urbano, he seems to get better and better each time out. A match between Urbano and Humberto Soto to me would place Urbano in the top 5 on the must see tv fighters list.

Mike Alvarado- This banger from the Rockies can be a future force for our sport, A future fight against Victor Ortiz would be huge.

Victor Ortiz- Vicious Vic is a good looking, well spoken, hard working young kid with a tainted rough past. His story is one that needs to be told, what other place to tell a story then the center stage?

Devon Alexander- Devon to me has the skills to become the next Mayweather Jr. without the attitude. Bring Devon to Golden Boy Promotions and we will surely see more of this young boxing Phenom. His current promoter is the legendary Don King, however it now seems that Don King has no clue on how to promote anymore.

Andre Ward- Seems to me that the other Andre, Andre Dirrel is the only Andre going for it right now. The time is now for this Andre the Olympic Gold Medalist to re introduce himself.

Tavoris Cloud- This animal that fights out of the city of Wind, is so far the truth. Let’s throw this beast in a cage with Chad Dawson lock it up and move out the way. 2009 has got to be the year for us to see alot more of him.

B.J. Flores- When David Haye left the cruiserweight division for bigger fish to fry, Haye said that Flores is the man to face at cruiser, and you know what? I believe him. In 2009, I would make it a priority to face the winner of the Adamek/Cunningham rematch. In the meantime I would feast on Marco Huck or Guillermo Jones.
