A superstar has faded but a star has risen

No offense to the solid prospect Daniel Jacobs who they call “Golden Child” but officially as of last Saturday night after what the world witnessed between Manny Pacquiau and the “Golden Boy”, we all know if there’s going to be any passing of any gold, it will be to a young man named Victor Ortiz.

Born and raised in Kansas, Victor Ortiz started boxing at a very young age, just like a lot of the mexican kids trying to find themselves in the gym and keep themselves off the streets. However this young man now before us is not just any mexican kid, he is now possibly the next big thing in boxing. The one that can maybe just maybe save the “sweet science” for the next generation. Everything is there for him, he is promoted  by Oscar De La Hoya, he is 21 years old, very likeable guy, and it does not hurt possess a mean left hook.

Victor now lives in Oxnard, CA where he is under the watchful eye of Danny Garcia. Now after watching his last fight in which he pummled Jeff resto in only 2  rounds and watching him build his record to 23-1-1 with wins over Carlos Maussa and veteran Emmanuel Clottey. I am curious to see how he fares with the Kendall Holts, Demetrius Hopkins, and the Vivian Harris’s in the 140 lb weigh class. I know one thing for sure is that a guy at a bar in Manchester England hopes that Victor fares pretty well with them so he can have the “Golden” fight that he was hoping to have next year if the “Golden Boy” would have followed thru and beat the Pac Man. Either way I believe Ricky Fatton Hatton and Victor Ortiz will meet in the near future.
